EMPLOYMENT LAW: Wells Fargo to cut 415 Jobs in Sacramento

March 16, 2010

Sacramento – In a press release this week, Wells Fargo has announced that about 415 jobs will be removed in the planned merger of their two local call centers.

Wells Fargo will be consolidating the operations of their Butano Drive and Northgate Boulevard call centers into a single business and consumer center.

The merger resulted in some duplicated and unneeded positions, which are longer fit the new structure.

More than 10 percent of the company’s local workforce will be affected.

Julie Campbell, a spokesperson for the company, said "We take these steps with great reluctance -- but with the company's long-term health and success guiding our decisions,"

She added that the company will do everything it can to help the affected employees find new jobs.

Affected employees may also apply for open positions within the company, she said.

Wells Fargo has about 4,000 employees in Sacramento and about 50,000 workers across the state.
