EMPLOYMENT DISCRIMINATION: Wal-Mart Placerville Faces Discrimination Charges for Firing a Disabled Employee

December 16, 2011

Sacramento – The US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has filed a disability discrimination lawsuit against Wal-Mart doing business in Placerville, reports revealed.

According to EEOC officials, the management of Wal-Mart has failed to provide reasonable accommodation to one of its employees, David Gallo, who has a heart condition.

Reports claim that Gallo asked Wal-Mart to let him use the handicap parking slot of the retail market but his request was turned down and was asked to use the back portion of the parking lot instead.

Gallo filed a formal complaint with the EEOC for Wal-Mart’s failure to accommodate his disability but upon knowing this, the management fired him.

EEOC has said that Wal-Mart clearly violated the American with Disabilities Act’s reasonable accommodation and anti-retaliation provisions.
