SEX DISCRIMINATION: Sex Discrimination Case against Wal-Mart Junked by US Supreme Court
June 21, 2011
Washington- Wal Mart Stores Inc. has escaped from liabilities arising from a class action suit, which alleged that it discriminated against 1.5 million female employees.
Reports said the US Supreme County junked the sex discrimination case filed against the retail giant through a 5-4 vote. It was determined that the plaintiffs failed to prove that the company enforced a policy which discriminates against female employees.
According to the justices, store managers in Wal-Mart were allowed to make decisions with regard to promotions and pay levels. In addition, they stated that the suit has flaws because it seeks to recover monetary damages for many individuals.
