EMPLOYMENT LAW: San Francisco Teachers to Enjoy Reduced Layoffs
May 12, 2010
San Francisco - A conceptual agreement between the San Francisco Unified School District and United Educators of San Francisco (UESF) will likely lessen a portion of the oncoming teacher layoffs.
According to reports, both parties made the agreement hours before the start of a board education meeting in which giving of final layoff notices to at least 350 educators and a number of staff members will be approved.
A district spokesperson said sending of around 150 layoff notices can be canceled if the board of education and UESF members approve the actual agreement.
The details that will be included in the agreement will not be revealed until a formalized copy of it is presented to both parties, said reports.
