DISCRIMINATION: Salesman Wins Age Discrimination Case, Gets $385,000 from Retailer

February 19, 2011

Santa Ana - A 68-year-old former worker of McMahon’s RV, an Irvine-based vehicle retailer, has been awarded with around $385,000 by an Orange County jury in an age discrimination case, said reports.

Bob Liemandt, from Placentia, filed a case against the company in 2009, alleging that he suffered from age discrimination and wrongful termination.

According to reports, the jury determined that Liemandt was terminated due to his age and in violation of public policy. In addition, it also found that the defendant’s conduct towards him constituted malice or fraud and oppression.

The former salesman was awarded with punitive damages amounting to $50,000. Meanwhile, the rest of the award covers lost income, lost commissions, back wages, and about $50,000 for pain and suffering.
