Retaliation Charges Most Filed in EEOC for Fiscal Year 2011
January 27, 2012Retaliation charges topped the fiscal year 2011 for the most frequently filed employment-related charge with the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission for the second year in a row, reports said.
According to the fiscal report, which ended September 30, retaliation charges reached 36,344, a 3 percent increase.
Total charges in the fiscal report increased slightly to 99,947 from the last fiscal year’s record of 99,922.
Sex discrimination charges came second for the most frequently filed charge, with 28,534 complaints (a 1.7 percent decrease) filed that accounted for 28.5 percent of the total.
Both are followed by the following forms of employment-related charges: disability discrimination (2.3 percent increase, 25,742 charges, 25.8 percent of the total); and age discrimination (0.9 percent increase, 23,465 charges, 23.5 percent of the total).
