EMPLOYMENT DISCRIMINATION: Plumas County School Officials Face Discrimination Suit
February 15, 2011
Plumas County - A Plumas County school district superintendent and several school officials were charged by a teacher and basketball coach for taking discriminatory actions against an American-Indian employee, a report said.
Jerald Clinton Eaglesmith, a teacher in Plumas County Community School since 2000 filed a 21-page complaint on January 11, stating that he was discriminated against by his colleagues because he was an American-Indian.
Eaglesmith also stated that the officials Quincy High School also took adverse actions against him when he worked as head coach of its basketball team in 2004, and during the 2009-10 school year. He claimed that school officials did not help him when he asked for assistance due to the disobedient actions of his assistant coaches.
Then, the school officials conspired to take discriminatory actions against him and deprive him of his rights. Eventually, he was eliminated from handling the Quincy Boys basketball program.
All the defendants mentioned in the discrimination suit have not yet released a statement about the situation.
