EMPLOYMENT LAW: Pepe's Mexican Restaurant Owner Faces Sex Discrimination Suit

Indianapolis, Indiana- The owner of Pepe's Mexican Restaurant is facing sexual harassment and pregnancy discrimination lawsuit after a female employee reported the misconduct to Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), according to agency’s website today.
According to reports, the female employee filed the complaint at EEOC after her employer sexually harassed her, and fired her upon knowing her pregnancy.
The federal agency filed the lawsuit at US District Court for the Northern District of Indiana after initiating conciliation. EEOC is asserting punitive and compensatory damages as well as permanent injunction, reports said.
According to EEOC records, SAC Griffith, Inc., doing business as Pepe's Mexican Restaurant of Griffith, Ind., had a history of sexual harassment and wrongful termination class suit in 2002. The employer at that time agreed to pay the female workers $90,000 as settlement.
