EMPLOYMENT LAW: One of Twin White Deputies Testify in Discrimination Charges
March 23, 2010
Compton – One of the twin brothers who filed racial discrimination charges against the county has testified that his Latino colleagues are harassing and ostracizing his twin brother for being white, reports said.
Deputies Ryan and Richard Wade filed their lawsuits against the county in July 2008 for harassment, discrimination, and retaliation they allegedly suffered from their colleagues and the department who failed to correct it.
Aside from the taunts and threats that the twin received, they were reportedly transferred to a lower post at the Community College Bureau.
The representative for the county argued that the deputies requested for the said transfer in 2007 and noted the discrepancies in Richard Wade’s recent testimony and his pretrial deposition.
