EMPLOYMENT LAW: OSHA’s New and Revised Material on Worker Safety and Health Published

October 17, 2011

Washington - The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has announced publication of new and revised information explaining workers’ and employers’ rights and safety guidelines in the construction, general and maritime industries, a statement released in the agency website said.

The new material, Small Entity Compliance Guide for Respiratory Protection Standard, provides small businesses with a comprehensive step-by-step guide with checklists and FAQs that will help employees and workers to have a better understanding of OSHA’s respiratory protection standard.

OSHA has also published information to help protect construction, general industry and shipyard workers, including those who work outdoors. The agency has also issued compliance and safety guidelines on laboratory safety, aerial lift fall protection, working in trenches, nail gun safety and heat stress protection, among others.

Employers are responsible for providing safe and healthful workplace for employees under the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970.
