EMPLOYMENT DISCRIMINATION: Novartis to Pay Millions after Losing Gender Discrimination Case
May 17, 2010
New York - According to reports, the verdict favored a dozen female workers who were paid less than their male co-workers and pregnant women who were treated unfavorably in the workplace.
The jury said punitive damages can be required from the company, though it did not determine how much will it be.
Reports said the case was tried in court after female workers filed a lawsuit, which stated that they were discriminated since 2002.
It further claimed that only a few female workers were promoted, men were provided with a higher salary, and the company allowed a hostile work environment.
