Minnesota State Agencies to Pay Former Employees to Resolve Age Discrimination Charge
Minneapolis – Three Minnesota state agencies are being required to pay damages to settle age discrimination complaints charged by the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), news reports said.
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Minnesota Department of Commerce, and Minnesota Department of Public Safety are set to pay at least $574,195 to the age discrimination complainants, reports added.
According to a press release by EEOC, the three state agencies violated the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) when they denied employer contributions for retiree health and dental insurance of their employees because they were older than 55 when they retired.
EEOC has announced that the 13 complainants will receive payments for lost premium.
