Layoffs to Affect Cali’s Prison and Parole System workers
May. 22, 2009
California – Around 5 percent of the total number of state workers in California’s Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation will lose their jobs as Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger imposed layoffs for the next four months, authorities confirmed Friday.
In a statement released by the administration, they confirmed 10 other agencies, including those involved in tax collections, will be affected in the layoffs.
Around 3,665 employees last week have already received notices for the said layoffs which give them 120 days to find other job.
The latest layoff is a part of the Governor’s target of eliminating 5,000 jobs to help cut state’s budget.
