Layoffs of Hundreds of Farmers Insurance Workers
August 28, 2009
California – Farmers Insurance, which is the state’s biggest auto insurance provider, is planning to layoff hundreds of its employees working at their Woodland Hills offices.
The management announced to its employees that around 550 positions will be vacated as a result of cost-cutting measures of the company.
Laid off employees are to come from the company’s 21st Century headquarters acquired in July. Some of them are to be offered executive positions at the 21st Century while others at the company’s Southern California operation.
The planned layoffs are to be followed by others as the company aims to decrease their workforce by 750 employees before the year 2010 ends. The company currently has 979 employees.
