EMPLOYMENT LAW: Layoff Notices Issued to School Employees

March 10, 2010

California – Some 114 employees of the Madera unified School District has received layoff notices though the school says not all of them will be laid off, reports said.

Aside from the layoffs, the district will be discussing a proposal to close down the Dixieland Elementary School in order to aid the district’s projected $13 million budget deficit.

The board is set to have at least three meetings next week in different school cafeterias to discuss other cost-cutting proposals.
