RACE DISCRIMINATION: Lawsuit filed against South California Business University
September 20, 2010
San Diego – A race discrimination and wrongful termination suit has been filed by the EEOC against a Southern California University in behalf of an African-American professor.
The federal lawsuit was filed this morning against Chapman University in Orange, California.
According to the lawsuit, the unnamed professor was denied tenure in the business school in 2006 despite being highly regarded by her colleagues.
The EEOC also alleged that the professor was terminated in 2008 while colleagues who had poorer performance were promoted.
The federal commission is seeking punitive damages and a court order to prevent any more of these discriminatory practices.
The Chapman University did not comment as they have not yet received a copy of the lawsuit.
