RACIAL DISCRIMINATION: Jury Junks Fresno Police Officer’s Racial Discrimination Case against Department, City
August 18, 2011
Fresno- A federal jury has junked a racial discrimination case that was filed by a black officer against the city and the police department.
According to reports, the officer filed the case following an incident in 2007 involving the plaintiffs Gerald Miller and another police officer.
Miller was asked to pull over due to a speeding violation. A discussion between the plaintiff and the other officer then escalated. He received a blue sheet from the department, which is considered as a form of reprimand.
Reports said Miller also raised his concerns about the traffic ticket he received. The department launched an affairs investigation afterwards.
An attorney of the defendant expressed his gratitude after the verdict was made.
