WAGE AND HOUR LAW VIOLATIONS: Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto sued for Unpaid Tips and Wages in New York

August 31, 2010

New York – Famous TV Chef Masaharu Morimoto is being sued for unpaid wages by a former employee in New York.

Jose Bueno, a bar back from Morimoto restaurant in New York, alleges that he is being paid less than the minimum wage and that the Iron Chef retained a portion of his tips.

He also claimed that aside from pocketing some of his tips, Morimoto also gave some to non-service employees such as silver polishers.

Morimoto’s representatives have not made any comment about the case.

The lawsuit was filed weeks after fellow Iron Chef Mario Batali has been sued for similar allegations about unpaid tips by former employees both in New York and Los Angeles.
