EMPLOYMENT LAW: Former Bell City Administrator Rizzo Fired as Parking Lot Attendant
January 13, 2011
Huntington Beach – Embattled former Bell City administrator Robert Rizzo was let go again from another job, this time as a volunteer parking lot attendant for the International Surfing Museum in Huntington Beach.
Rizzo was volunteering for the museum as part of a community service requirement for a DUI conviction.
Kitty Willis, a docent from the Museum told the media that “We always look at our volunteers to make sure that their volunteer service does not impact the museum negatively ... and apparently it has and he’s no longer here.”
Willis added, “The focus of the museum is the surfing community and making sure that any of the volunteers that we allow to come in here and do their time don’t have a negative impact and he did.”
Rizzo was forced out of his position after the Los Angeles Times wrote about the extremely high salaries of officials in one of LA County’s poorest cities.
After which, he was arrested and charged with misappropriation of city funds.
As of the moment, it is not clear if Rizzo will contest the legality of his termination from the International Surfing Museum.
