RELIGIOUS DISCRIMINATION: Former Abercrombie & Fitch Employee to File Religious Discrimination Suit

June 27,2011

Hollister County - A former female store employee has expressed plans of suing Abercrombie & Fitch, claiming that she was terminated for wearing her Muslim headscarf, also called hijab, while at the workplace.

According to reports, Hani Khan was employed in a store located at the Hillsdale Shopping Center in San Mateo. When she started working in 2009, she agreed to wear a gray, white, or a navy-colored hijab.

However, she was required to remove it after being seen by the district manager. She was terminated in February 2010 after she refused to follow the manager’s order.

Reports said she will take legal action against the company with the help of the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).
