LABOR LAW: Emeryville’s ZipRealty May Pay $17 million for Violating Wage and Hour Law
September 27, 2011
Oakland, California – The California State Labor Commissioner’s office has filed a statewide lawsuit against ZipRealty, an Emeryville-based real estate solution company, for failing to provide its agents with proper amount of minimum wage, reports said.
According to reports, the lawsuit filed aims to require ZipRealty to pay about $17 million to settle the wage and hour dispute.
Officials of California’s Division of Labor Standards Enforcement have said the company has violated the State’s wage and hour law by paying its real estate agents with less than the determined minimum wage for four years.
Under California employment law, State’s employers are required to pay employees not less than $8.00 per hour.
