EMPLOYMENT DISCRIMINATION: EEOC Files Sex Discrimination Lawsuit against NY Based Engineering Company in Honolulu
July 7, 2010
Honolulu, Hawaii - A sex discrimination lawsuit was filed against ITT Corporation, a New York based engineering and manufacturing company, in a US District Court in Honolulu yesterday.
The lawsuit was filed by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in behalf of a female firefighter who works at the company’s Pacific Missile Range Facility on Kauai.
In the lawsuit, the firefighter alleges that she was a victim of sexual harassment while working at the facility.
She claims that male co-workers and supervisors consistently made sexual remarks and watched sexually explicit TV programs and videos at work and in her presence.
She also claims that she also became the subject of retaliation after complaining about the alleged harassment.
ITT declined to make a comment on the matter due to legal matters.
