HARASSMENT and WRONGFUL TERMINATION: EEOC Files Harassment, Wrongful Termination Lawsuit against JBS

August 31, 2010

Denver - The US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has filed lawsuits against two JBS Swift & Co. meatpacking plants in Nebraska and Colorado for alleged harassment and wrongful termination.

The lawsuits were filed in a US District Court in Omaha and Denver. The agency alleged that Muslim employees were called names. In addition, bones and meat were thrown at them by their managers and co-employees.

EEOC also claimed that the company retaliated against employees who asked for accommodations during the month of Ramadan by suddenly terminating their employment.

Reports said Swift officials have not yet commented regarding the case.
