EMPLOYMENT DISCRIMINATION: Disney Hostess Refuses Hijab Replacement
August 23, 2010
Anaheim – The hostess who filed a complaint against Disney for not allowing her to wear hijab at work has rejected the company’s proposal of replacing the Muslim head scarf with a hat saying that it mocks her religion.
Imane Boudlal had earlier filed a religious discrimination complaint with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission claiming that Disney failed to provide reasonable accommodation while she is working as a hostess at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim.
Boudlal reportedly also rejected Disney’s offers of transferring her to other job positions where she would not have to constantly be in contact with customers.
Disney’s latest proposal of the specially-designed hat as a replacement to hijab is one of the company’s offer to Boudlal’s request to modify her approved work apparel.
