EMPLOYMENT LAW: DOL Hosts National Dialogue on Hourly Wage Female Employees

Pasadena – The US Department of Labor (DOL) has conducted a Workplace Flexibility conference at the Pasadena Convention Center recently, which focused on best practices for hourly-wage female employees.
In a statement released in its website, the agency said the conference is part of events-building activities for March 2011 White House Flexibility Forum.
Labor Secretary Hilda Solis, the keynote speaker of the event, underscored the importance of flexible workplace policies which she said is “also good for a company’s bottom line”.
First Lady Michelle Obama also sent a video message discussing changing workplaces.
The guests included Women’s Bureau Director Sara Manzano-Diaz, KTLA-TV reporter and anchor Elizabeth Espinosa, Joan Williams, founder and director, University of California-Hastings’ Center for Worklife Law; Jennifer Piallat, restaurant owner and employer; Rosalind Hudnell, an Intel executive; Barbara Grimm, senior vice president, labor management partnership, Kaiser Permanente; and Marianne Giordano, president, Office and Professional Employees International Union Local 30 and Maria Elena Durazo, executive secretary-treasurer, Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO.
