EMPLOYMENT LAW: Court to Uphold Binding Arbitration in Union Paid Leave Dispute
December 21, 2010
California – The Sacramento court is set to rule whether the dispute between the state and the prison officer’s union should be settled through a binding arbitration, reports said.
The complaint regarding the union paid leave was brought by California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation alleging that the California Correctional Officers Peace Association owes the state around $4.4 million for employees’ salary and benefits they received while on leave to attend to matters regarding the union.
The amount is said to have accumulated over a five-year-period.
