EMPLOYMENT LAW: Court Issues Stay on State Workers’ Furloughs
March 31, 2010
Sacramento - A California appellate court has issued a stay on two of the three union lawsuits challenging the furloughs as thousands of state workers are expected to take an unpaid furlough day on Friday.
Last week, Alameda Superior Court judge Frank Roesch had ruled that the governor could no longer furlough workers belonging to departments that receive funding outside the general fund.
Previously, a lower court had ordered some state employees to go back to full-time work on Friday.
Governor Schwarzenegger imposed the three-day-a-month furlough to help save state money.
