EMPLOYMENT LAW: Court Finds Billionaire’s Former Assistant Not Wrongfully Terminated

March 4, 2010

Santa Ana – The former assistant of Broadcom Corp. co-founder Henry T. Nicolas III failed to prove in court that she was wrongfully terminated by the company partly owned by Nicholas.

An Orange County Superior Court jury dismisses Katherine Nichols’ claims in February 2009 that she had been fired by The Management Co. after her grand jury testimony in cases filed against Nicholas.

The jury did not award Nichols the damages she was seeking as they found that her grand jury testimony was not a factor in her termination. Nicholas’ federal securities fraud and drug distribution charges were also recently junked by U.S. District Judge Cormac J. Carney.
