California Places 3rd in Overall Job Growth
November 27, 2009
Sacramento - California has placed third overall, behind Texas and Michigan, in job growth from September to October.
According to the State Employment Development Department Data, there were about 25,700 jobs added in California.
The only states that posted higher job growth are Texas with about 41,700 and Michigan with about 38,600.
Overall, 28 states posted an increase in overall job growth.
This is the first increase in monthly jobs since April 2008.
The data was seen as a good sign as economists predicted the state to have job loss of about 20,000.
Economists warn though that it will take more than one month of job growth to reverse the huge job losses in California last year.
As of October 2009, there were still 2.3 million unemployed workers in California.
