WAGE VIOLATIONS: CA Labor Commission Issues Citation to Riverside County Warehouses for Labor Violations
October 13, 2011
Mira Loma - The California labor Commission has issued a citation to Schneider Logistics, after State Labor Commissioner Julie Su conducted an inspection of warehouses in Riverside County and uncovered several labor law violations, an official statement released in its website said.
After the inspection, the California Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) Division of Labor Standards Enforcement found that the company had over 200 employees and some of them were hired by other entities, namely Premier Warehousing Ventures, LLC and Impact Logistics, Inc.
As a result, Impact Logistics, LLC was issued a $499,000 citation for its failure to “provide itemized wage statements” to employees. The agency also issued a Notice to Discontinue labor law violations for failure to maintain time records. On the other hand, Premier Warehousing Ventures was issued a Notice to Discontinue reporting time violations and other violations.
In California, employers are required to provide basic protections for workers that include payment of at least minimum wage, overtime and workers compensation coverage,” DIR Acting Director Christine Baker reiterated, as quoted in the statement.
Labor abuses and violations are common in warehouse workers, particularly in the Inland Empire area as the agency continues with its investigations.
