January 15, 2010

Vallejo – Two police officers have been laid off and at least 17 others will be demoted in the Vallejo Police Department as part of budget cuts in the department, reports said.

A spokesman for the department said that the two officers to be laid off are among the seven personnel affected in the mandatory lay off as declared in November of last year. The other five has left the department since then.

Earlier, the department had planned to keep only 104 of their sworn officers to aid the on-going financial crisis.
