PREGNANCY DISCRIMINATION: Atlanta Retailer to Pay Dues for Terminating Pregnant Employee
Atlanta – An Atlanta-based retail company has settled pregnancy discrimination lawsuit charged by its former employee, reports said.
According to Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), D&K Suit City, LLC discriminated against Linda Bell because of her pregnancy by terminating her from work.
EEOC officials have said that the company agreed to pay Bell a total amount of $20,000 for settlement.
Aside from monetary settlement, D&K is also being required to provide equal employment training to its workers and to post anti-discrimination notices in its workplace.
The retail company has violated Pregnancy Discrimination Act when it terminated Bell for her pregnancy, reports said.
