WRONGFUL TERMINATION: Alaska Native Corporation named in Wrongful Termination Suit

October 25, 2010

Anchorage, Alaska – Calista Corporation, one of Alaska Native Regional Corporations, was named in a wrongful termination lawsuit filed by Emily Davenport who is a former president of Solstice Advertising, a subsidiary of Calista.

Davenport initially filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against Matthew Nicolai, a CEO of the corporation, after he told her that she will be demoted following the end of their relationship.

Davenport claimed that Nicolai used his position to retaliate against her for their break up.

She filed a wrongful termination suit against the company after they terminated her employment last September, although the Calista board also terminated Nicolai early October.

Davenport claims that Calista Corporation fired her using false pretenses such as lackluster job performance.

She also claimed that the company’s management was aware of the special attention that Nicolai was giving her during her employment with the company.

Calista Corporation has not made a comment citing policies about not discussing lawsuits against the company.
